Car Rider Information
All car riders need to be dropped off in the car rider lane where we provide supervision. For safety reasons, no students are to be dropped off at the front of the building at any time (except for morning clubs).
Car Rider Drop Off
Car rider drop off will occur from 7:35-8:15 a.m. We encourage you to drop your child off no later than 8:15 a.m. to ensure your child is not tardy and has plenty of time to make it to the classroom to get prepared for the start of the school day. The car-rider lane closes at 8:15 a.m. If you arrive after this time, do NOT drop your child off in the car-rider lane. The school doors are locked and your child will be unable to enter the building. Please park your car in the parking lot and escort your child into the building through the front office doors.
Car Rider Pick Up
Car rider pick up starts promptly at 2:45 p.m. and ends at 3:10 p.m. Please do not use cell phones while driving in the car rider lane. Please help us with this process by safely pulling all the way up to the car in front of you and coming to a complete stop. Allow your child to safely get into your car on the passenger side and close the door before pulling off.
Important Safety Reminders
Parents or other authorized persons must display the McKendree Elementary issued car rider number hang tag in the car. Parents are given two of these at registration for your convenience. Handwritten tags are not permitted. If you should lose one of your hang tags, or would like an extra, two additional tags may be obtained from the school by coming into the front office during business hours. For safety reasons, if you do not have your MKES hang tag, which is your identification to pick up your child, you will need to show your ID and wait to be verified as an authorized person. Thank you for following these very important safety procedures. Your child’s safety is our greatest priority!
GCPS Bus/Transportation Information
In order to maintain a safe and secure environment for our students riding buses, students must ride on their normal routes as scheduled and NOT ride on other buses. This is an important safety issue. It will assist our Transportation Department in maintaining the buses from overcrowding, as well as, maintaining a smooth transition in transporting our students daily. Thank you for adhering to this and helping us preserve the high safety, security, and quality of McKendree Elementary.
